About the Role:
The City of Bridgeport is seeking an energetic and community-driven Community Engagement Specialist to serve as a vital link between the library and the public. This role is designed for someone who thrives on connecting with people, building relationships, and promoting meaningful access to library services, programs, and resources.
You’ll engage with residents both inside the library and out in the community—helping ensure library offerings reflect the needs, interests, and experiences of Bridgeport residents.

What You’ll Do:
•Serve as a primary ambassador for the library in-person, online, and at community events
•Engage with patrons of all ages to gather feedback and connect them with relevant services
•Develop and manage engaging social media content and track performance analytics
•Plan and attend outreach events, programs, and community meetings
•Build partnerships with local organizations and represent the library at civic functions
•Promote underutilized services through creative marketing and communication strategies
•Create newsletters, digital content, brochures, and promotional materials
•Respond to inquiries, comments, and feedback in a timely and professional manner
•Support staff engagement efforts and assist with training related to outreach and customer service
•Analyze community needs and recommend new or improved services

Required Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree
•Valid driver’s license
•Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
•Genuine passion for connecting people with library resources

Preferred Knowledge & Experience:
•Social media management and content creation
•Graphic design tools (e.g., Canva)
•Event planning and coordination
•Familiarity with accessibility standards
•Experience working with diverse communities

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
