The City of Bridgeport recently began the process to update the 2019 Comprehensive Plan. The Comprehensive Plan serves as the long-range planning document guiding the future growth and development of the City and is required by the West Virginia State Code to be updated every five years. The State Code establishes the scope and content requirements for comprehensive plans; requiring that they consider population, utilities, public services, transportation, environment, land uses, and related growth factors as the plan is developed. Comprehensive plans include a statement of goals and objectives for the city’s future growth and an action plan and timeline on how to achieve the goals and objectives.

The City’s Comprehensive Plan update will be prepared over the next 16 months and will be guided by the Comprehensive Plan Committee (CPC). The process will begin in late July with background research, a kickoff meeting with the Committee, and listening sessions with subject matter experts across the City including the real estate/development community, business and economic development entities, community and neighborhood organizations, outside/state agencies, elected officials, appointed boards, and City department leaders.

On September 30th and October 1st the Planning Committee will host the first set of drop-in meetings for the public to take a survey and provide input on City development for the future.

The link to the survey can be found here. We encourage everyone to participate by taking the survey.

We have also prepared a Comprehensive Plan webpage where we will post information regarding the plan over the next 16 months. The webpage can be found by clicking here.

The City of Bridgeport is asking all water customers to complete a service line survey in order to be in compliance with the EPA's Lead and Copper Rule. Click link here to access survey. Completed surveys can be mailed or dropped off at:
